Kid Central offers before and After School programs at six elementary school sites and two middle schools
This week’s Kid Central Kid in Focus is Emily Wilk, a dynamic 5th grader from Yowell Elementary School. She is has been with Kid Central’s before and aftercare program since 2020. ![]()
“Emily is always helpful and kind,” according to the Kid Central staff at her school. “She is always willing to lend a hand during all types of scenarios.”![]()
Emily is by all accounts an exceptional student earning honor roll status consistently. Over the last three years she has participated in Math 24 a scholastic math contest—and she has made it to the finals all three years. ![]()
She is also an avid reader. Currently, she is enjoying the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series.![]()
As for sports, she really likes baseball. She likes watching it and playing it. ![]()
Her favorite food is cheese bites. ![]()
Emily also loves playing the trumpet in band class. ![]()
“I like playing nursery rhymes,” she added with a smile. ![]()
If Emily had a superpower, it would be telekinesis.![]()
Her personal hero is her friend Emily. M, who “always has her back.”![]()
If Emily had a intro or walk-up song it would be “Count on Me” by Bruno Marrs.![]()
One of her top goals in life is to somehow help kids battling cancer to get the best treatments possible. ![]()

We are aware the concern has arose of the fire alarm at the Galbreath Marshall building going off. We have investigated the situation and it appears to have been an issue with a sensor. We are thankful for the active security system we have in place and being able to identify the issue quickly.
We offer a place for Culpeper’s kids, where they can be themselves.
