Kid Central
Kid Central offers before and After School programs at six elementary school sites and two middle schools
This week’s Kid Central Kid in Focus is James Moody, a fifth grader at Yowell Elementary’s after school program.
“We all enjoy James for his quirky personality, and we enjoy his views on the world,” said the KC staff at Yowell. “He is always willing to help his friends.”
James started at Kid Central in 2023. According to the KC staff he is a unique character who loves to write about states, countries and cities. He also has a routine where he must see all our faces every day. He can instantly tell us who is not at daycare. He doesn’t like gloomy days and he likes Ramen noodles.
James is an excellent student according to teachers and childcare staff. He is an honor roll student.
“My favorite subject and activity at school is computer time,” said James.
He is an active kid who enjoys playing basketball, munching on Mexican food, and reading. His favorite book currently is “Pete the Cat.”
James favorite hobby is writing.
If James had a superpower, it would be to be a “song superhero.”
He also enjoys comics, films and other media that focus on the imaginative world of superheroes. He says that he appreciates the many virtues of these heroes.
His favorite song is “I Want You Around” by Snoh Aalegra.
When James grows up, he wants to make the world a better place by helping all his friends.
We have no doubt that James can achieve any goal he sets.
At Emerald Hill the Kid Central children created Christmas cards for the Silver Club, a popular senior citizen program at Culpeper Parks and Recreation, coordinated by Mr. Marshall. The Silver Club really appreciated the heartfelt messages and artwork. They will write messages on the cards and return them to the children after the Christmas break. This activity was inspired by Kid Central's 12 Days of Giving campaign.
This week, the Farmington Elementary Kid Central kids and staff held its annual Elves' Giving Day, where the children and staff exchange gifts and have a festive party.
"It's probably my favorite activity of the year," said Ms. Brittany.
The many smiles clearly show that all her little friends agree. The spirit of the season is evident!
This week’s Kid Central Kid in Focus is Haleigh Holt, a creative, kind and fun-loving fifth grader from Farmington Elementary’s afterschool program.
“Haleigh is helpful to all our daycare staff. She is always respectful, positive, kind and generous to all,” said the Kid Central staff at Farmington.
Haleigh is an outstanding student, earning honor roll status consistently throughout her time in elementary school. Her favorite subject is math.
She is an active kid who enjoys football and gymnastics. Her favorite food is sushi.
Haleigh is also an avid reader. Her current favorite book is “The Babysitters Club, Volume 5.”
When she’s not at school or daycare she likes to play with her friends on Roblox.
If somehow, she had a superpower, it would be “reading minds.”
Her personal heroes are her mom, dad, Miss Brianna, and Miss Brittany.
If she had a intro or walkup song she would choose “Chicken Banana.”
When Haleigh grows up, she wants to become a pediatric nurse to help children get better.
We have no doubt that Haleigh will achieve any goals she sets her sights on. We see a bright future ahead for this Kid Central star.
Attention Parents of Emerald Hill! Due to the school having winter activities Kid Central will be located in the gym. Please pick up at the gym doors.
We offer a place for Culpeper’s kids, where they can be themselves.
